Digestive DisorderSome people mistakenly believe that the human stomach can handle just about anything, but this is actually far from true. Digestion is something which is governed by physiological chemistry, and so it is very important that you take care in what you eat so that your body’s digestive system can stay in proper working order and avoid complications.

Basic Food Combining Guidelines

When it comes to avoiding food combination disasters in your body, there are a few things that you are going to want to be aware of. A few in particular will be discussed in more detail here:

1.  Avoid eating carbohydrates with acid fruits

This is a very important tip to remember. You should never eat foods that are high in carbohydrates and fruits that are acidic in the same meal. The combination here is not at all going to be good for the body and you will definitely be feeling the effects of it. A few foods that are high in carbohydrates are bread, rice, and potatoes, and oranges, grapefruits, pineapples, tomatoes, and limes are a few of the most acidic fruits. Tomatoes in particular should never be combined with starchy food that is full of carbohydrates because the various acids in the tomato are very much opposed to the alkaline digestion of starches and so the combination here is definitely not going to be a good thing.

2.  Avoid eating concentrated proteins with concentrated carbohydrates

It is also important that you avoid eating foods that are considered as being concentrated proteins with those that have a lot of concentrated carbohydrates. This means that you want to avoid eating nuts, meat, eggs, cheese, and other protein foods with any bread, cereals, potatoes, or sweet fruits such as strawberries or watermelon. Also remember that candy and foods that are full of sugar can greatly inhibit the secretion of gastric juices in the body and as a result you may notice a weakening of your digestive system, and often constipation.

3.  Do not consume two concentrated proteins at the same meal

It is important that you plan your meals wisely, and never have two concentrated protein foods at the same meal. You should never combine any two of the following at a single meal: nuts, meat, eggs, and cheese. Although each of these is healthy and nutritious for you on its own, you do not want to combine any of them because it will have a poor effect on your digestive system. The reason for avoiding eating any of these combinations is because each protein requires a specific character and strength of digestive juice to be secreted. In particular, eggs require different timing in stomach secretions than do either milk or meat.

4.  Do not consume fats with proteins

Another food combination that you want to avoid is fats and proteins. Again these combinations often result in problems with the digestive system and often constipation as well. Milk and red meat for instance, is not a particularly great combination because of the fat in the milk and the high protein content of the meat.

5.  Do not eat acidic fruits and proteins

Yet another food combination that you will want to avoid is acidic fruits and proteins. Oranges, tomatoes, lemons, and pineapples are just a few of the most acidic fruits, and although they are all very nutritious for you on their own, you will not want to combine them with such foods as meat, eggs, cheese and nuts. Acidic fruits seriously hamper protein digestion and so it will take longer for these foods to make their way through your digestive system. This can result in a variety of problems, and if you make it a constant problem than you may even end up with a permanent health condition.

6.  Do not combine sweet foods with proteins, starches, or acidic fruits

Jellies, jams, fruit, butter, sugar, and syrups, these are all considered as being sweet foods, ones which have a very high sugar content, and you do not want to eat any of these with cereals, breads, potatoes, etc., at the same meal. Again the food combination here will be bad for your body, namely the digestive system. The main reason in this case is that if sugar is eaten it quickly fills with saliva, but no ptyalin is present and this is something which is essential for proper starch digestion.

7.  Do not eat melons with other fruits

Not many people are aware of it, but if you eat a melon you should really avoid eating any other fruit at the same time. This is mainly because melons are more than 90 percent water and so you are filling up your stomach enough without adding on to it by eating more fruits. Fruits in general are very high in water content, and so if you eat a melon and even more fruit on top of that, you are going to end up feeling bloated and have problems with your digestive system.

8.  Drink milk alone

Another food product that you should consume on its own is milk. Milk is obviously very healthy and nutritious for you, but as a rule you should drink it on its own and not combine it with any other food. Milk does not digest in the stomach, but in the duodenum, hence in the presence of milk the stomach does not respond with its secretion.

By understanding the food combinations that you should avoid, you will be able to keep your digestive system in top working order and stay feeling healthier and happier in general.

Digestive Disorder

When wrong foods are consumed at the same time, you are likely to get digestive disorders. Digestive disorders are confusing, and some of the conditions includes:

  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Diverticulosis
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Gastritis
  • Acid Reflux
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

There are many synthetic over-the-counter and prescription medicines to treat digestive complaints and disorders but they all come with side effects. Recognizing the need for a healthier and more effective approach, without the side effects of the prescription drugs, researchers has developed DigestAssist, a 100% herbal remedies to treat these digestive disorders.

Another excellent product would be Triple Complex Digestion Tonic, which is made with tissue salts, and it is safe to be taken by infants and pregnant women!
